Titaness of divine law and right order. Her blindfolded figure with scales still stands outside law courts as Lady Justice, though that image is a later development.

The story

A Titaness who stands for divine law, custom and what is right. She was Zeus‘s second wife and gave him the Seasons and, in one version, the Fates. Before Apollo, she held the oracle at Delphi.

How it ends

She sits beside Zeus, advising him, and calls the gods to assembly.

Still with us today

Statues of Justice holding scales outside law courts, including the Old Bailey in London, descend from her and the Roman goddess Justitia.
